It’s the end of Spring Semester: University students are either heading home for a much-needed break or celebrating graduation. Many professors are getting ready for a relaxing summer, however, that’s not the case with all of them. FGHW partner Paula Beasley has had the privilege of teaching a Real Estate Law class at SMU’s Cox School of Business for the last 18 years while also heading up the firm's Real Estate division by day.
It means a great deal to us that her students find learning from Paula as rewarding as she finds teaching, and it’s clear from their feedback that she’s making a real difference in their academic lives and beyond. We thought we’d share some of things they said after this last semester about Paula and her Real Estate Law class.
“Professor Beasley uses her real life experience working in real estate law in Dallas to cover a broad range of topics, diving into personal anecdotes to bring the topics to life. It not only is general real estate but very much Texas real estate law.”
“I thoroughly enjoyed the foreclosure auction field trip and guest speakers — both brought an extra perspective to certain topics Professor Beasley covered in class and really enhanced my understanding of certain niche real estate law topics.”
“I would describe what Professor Beasley often covered as the “nitty gritty” part of dealing with real estate — the real life things most people do not get to experience everyday unless you actually practice real estate law.”
“I loved coming each week because I was able to apply the knowledge directly. At my internship, I need titles almost everyday and it was great to get that foundation in the classroom that I now use at work in the real world.”
